Scuba Diving Cow and Calf Dive Site: Gordon’s Bay, Cape Town

Site description: This is a nice, relaxing dive and due to its depth you can enjoy 60 minutes exploring this beautiful site. Cow and Calf gets its name from the two largest parts of this reef which, when viewed from the road, look like a mother (cow) whale and her calf.  The site consists of a small-ish reef consisting of pinnacles covered in a vast amount of different marine life and fans;  surrounded by boulders and smaller pinnacles.

What to look out for: Orange sea fans, seals, cuttlefish, octopus, kolstert fish, red roman and hottentot.  Many different types of nudibranchs, including the orange and white and blue and yellow gasflame nudibranch, red-spotted dorid, cape dorid, crowned nudibranch, coral nudibranch, orange nudibranch, inkspot nudibranch.  A beautiful and relaxing dive site, fantastic for underwater photographers.
